Favorite Summer Places

More often than not when Dianne and I are making plans to drive somewhere for a day trip, an afternoon or an evening drive, we usually think about “water”…maybe it’s Boston harbor, a South Shore beach or the canal. Each has its own special draw.
A visit to Boston harbor provides endless opportunities from a stroll along the harbor from the Seaport area, all the way around past the aquarium almost to Christopher Columbus park. The smell of salt air, the boats making their way around the harbor and, of course, tons of restaurants to choose from. Feeling a little nostalgia coming on…our favorite Italian restaurant was Ida’s. It was a small, as in 10-12 tables and sat maybe 35 or so people. It was a family-owned restaurant you entered from an alley off Hanover Street. Unfortunately, it closed several years ago when the owners just got too old to keep it going. The last time I walked down Hanover Street, the sign for Ida’s Restaurant was still displayed, hanging off the front corner of the building next to the alley. See if you can find it and when you do, conjure up the best Italian meal you’ve ever had…that’s what eating at Ida’s was like!
I’ll leave my stories about the beaches and the Cape Cod Canal to another time.
Take care and once again, best wishes for your best summer ever!
Until next time…
Gary
